Frequently Asked Questions

About the NDIS

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme provides eligible people with disability access to funding for reasonable and necessary supports that relate to their disability and help them pursue their goals.
Depending on the participant’s plan, funded supports may assist with independence, community participation, daily living, employment, education and other areas of life.

NDIS eligibility is determined by the National Disability Insurance Agency based on requirements relating to age, Australian residence and disability or early-intervention needs. Applicants must provide evidence relevant to the eligibility requirements. Oasis Care & Support cannot determine whether someone is eligible, but we can direct you to official NDIS information and help explain the services we provide once funding is available.

The usual first step is to connect with an NDIS partner, who can help explain the application process and the evidence required. An Access Request Form may be used to gather information, although the NDIS advises that applicants do not necessarily need to complete that form before making contact. Applications and eligibility decisions are managed by the NDIA, not by Oasis Care & Support.

Getting Started

How do I get started with Oasis Care & Support?

You can begin by contacting us by phone, email, online enquiry form or participant referral form.

We will discuss:

  • The participant’s goals
  • Required supports
  • Preferred schedule
  • Location
  • Funding-management arrangement
  • Communication and cultural preferences
  • Relevant health, safety or risk considerations
  • Preferred commencement date

If we are a suitable provider and have capacity, we will explain the assessment, service-agreement and onboarding steps.

No. You can contact us with a general description of the support you are seeking. We can explain the services Oasis provides and whether they may be relevant to the participant’s circumstances. We cannot provide financial, legal or NDIS eligibility advice, but we can help clarify our own referral and service-delivery process.

Service commencement depends on factors including:

  • The type and complexity of support
  • Participant location
  • Required days and hours
  • Worker availability
  • Relevant assessments
  • Completion of the service agreement and onboarding documentation
  • Confirmation of appropriate NDIS funding

We aim to progress referrals efficiently, but we will not commence support until we are satisfied that the arrangement can be delivered safely and appropriately.

Yes, where capacity allows. We may be able to consider urgent requests, including some hospital-discharge or temporary support situations. Urgent commencement is not guaranteed and remains subject to assessment, staffing, funding and risk considerations.

Support Planning and Delivery

Can my supports change over time?

Yes. Supports should be reviewed when the participant’s goals, circumstances, preferences, funding or support needs change. Any changes to the agreed services, schedule or pricing will be discussed and documented in accordance with the service agreement.

We consider factors such as:

  • Participant preferences
  • Required skills and experience
  • Availability
  • Communication style
  • Personality compatibility
  • Cultural or language considerations
  • Gender preference where reasonably requested
  • Support complexity and relevant qualifications

We aim to develop safe, respectful and sustainable working relationships.

Participant choice and control are central to our approach. Where possible, we involve participants in worker matching and consider their preferences. Matching remains subject to worker availability, qualifications, safety requirements and operational capacity.

We aim to provide consistency wherever possible because familiar relationships can improve trust and service quality. Occasionally, another suitably qualified worker may be required due to illness, leave, emergencies or staffing changes. We will communicate any planned change where practicable.

Yes, where the supports are included in the participant’s NDIS plan, relate to their goals and fall within Oasis Care & Support’s approved scope. For example, a participant may receive a combination of Personal Care, In-Home Supports, Community Participation and Transport Assistance.

Yes, with the participant’s consent or where a legally authorised representative is acting for them. We welcome relevant input from families, carers, nominees and Support Coordinators while ensuring that the participant’s rights, choices and preferences remain central.

Yes. We review supports to assess whether they remain appropriate and aligned with the participant’s goals. Where agreed and consented to, relevant updates may also be shared with the participant’s Support Coordinator, nominee or other authorised people.

The NDIS has three funding-management options:

  • Self-managed: the participant or their nominee manages the relevant funding.
  • Plan-managed: a registered plan manager manages payments and financial records.
  • NDIA-managed: the NDIA pays registered providers directly.

A plan may also use a combination of these arrangements across different support categories.

Referrals and Support Coordinators

Can Support Coordinators refer participants?

Yes. Support Coordinators can submit referrals through our referral form, by email or by contacting our team directly. We are also happy to discuss service suitability and current capacity before a formal referral is submitted.

Helpful referral information may include:

Fees, Agreements and Cancellations

Will I receive a service agreement?

Yes. Before ongoing services begin, Oasis Care & Support will provide a service agreement setting out matters such as:

  • The agreed supports
  • Service schedule
  • Pricing
  • Responsibilities of both parties
  • Cancellation terms
  • Payment arrangements
  • Privacy and confidentiality
  • Complaints and ending the agreement

Participants should read the agreement carefully and ask questions before signing.

Services are charged in accordance with the agreed service arrangement, applicable NDIS pricing requirements and the participant’s funding-management type. The specific rates, travel charges and other approved costs will be shown in the Schedule of Supports or service agreement.

Cancellation requirements will be explained in the service agreement and should reflect the applicable NDIS pricing rules and the circumstances in which a cancellation can be charged.
Please notify us as early as possible if a scheduled support is no longer required.
